Legal Question in Family Law in South Carolina

rights for men

married for 19 months,

no children ,no property,no assets.. would the man be responsible for paying alimony? wife has not kept a job due--name removed--drug problem..fired from each job. wife is threating--name removed--make him pay anything she can come up with..what is his rights in the case?

usually you have to be married more than 10 years in order to get alimony in TX. I don't know about SC.

Typically with a marriage that short, the husband would not be required to pay alimony unless there were very unusual, extreme circumstances to warrant it. However, he should still take steps to protect himself to give him the best chance of protecting himself.
