Legal Question in Family Law in South Carolina

rights during visitation

I have a 8 year old step-son, who my wife and I have primary custody. Every summer his father gets 4 weeks visitation, two weeks at a time. During this visitation his father refuses to allow my wife any contact with our son. This includes physical contact or even telephone calls. I was told that during this visitation we are still entitled to our normal weekends with our son, and the procedures would be the same as when he goes to his fathers for a visit. My question is, are we still entitled to this weekend visitation and take him back on sunday evening during his visit with his father. Also can he refuse to allow my wife to have any contact during this time.He went as far as to have my telephone number blocked so she couldn't call.

Re: rights during visitation

I cannot imagine any court agreeing with a parent who insists on cutting off all communication for a child with a non-custodial parent. It seems obvious that the father will not be reasonable. I suggest that the only way that you will remedy the problem is through the courts. Seek local advice from a Family Court attorney in your area.
