Legal Question in Family Law in South Carolina

my son's father

My sons father started seeing him about 8 months ago, the last time he got him he only had him for a few hours and had to drop him off ''because something came up''

since then i quit taking him over there. I have even ''played it by ear'' on when he could see him. four months has passed and his girlfriend and him sent me a letter stating that if i don't let him see him within 30 days of the letter that he will take me to court for visitation. He only pays $30 dollars a week in child support and when at the time he was seeing him, i was the one taking him and picking him up at the house they live in, only once have they picked him up and dropped him off back at my residence..

i don't know what i should do?

Re: my son's father

The Court views child support and visitation as separate issues. If you are concerned about your son's safety or welfare, then you can impose reasonable conditions upon the father's visitation. The key word is "reasonable."

If the father wants to bring an action to establish or modify his visitation, you will have the opportunity to counterclaim for an increase in child support. Of course, you can also go ahead and bring a child support modification action if circumstances have changed since it was last addressed.

These are complex issues, and it is important that they be handled correctly. Therefore, it is important that you consult an experienced family law attorney to find out what options are available to you based on the facts of your particular case.
