Re: South Carolina Adultery

There are many ramifications for the Court finding that a spouse has committed adultery, including:

1. the adultery serving as a ground for divorce.

2. the adulterous spouse receiving a smaller portion of the marital estate.

3. the adulterous spouse's chances of getting custody decreasing if he/she has had the child around his/her paramour.

4. the adulterous spouse being required to contribute to the innocent spouse's legal fees, investigator's fees, etc.

These are complex issues, and it is important that they be handled correctly. Therefore, it is important that you consult an experienced family law attorney to find out what options are available to you based on the facts of your particular case.
