Legal Question in Family Law in South Carolina

South Carolina Divorce

Thank you for this service. My separation period will be over on August 1, 2007. My ex's lawyer is going to file August 2nd. How long does it usually take to get a court date and for the divorce to be final? All financial obligations have already be filed and cleared through the lawyer. No children. Just an uncontested divorce.

One more thing, do I have to be at court the day of the hearing? Thank you.

Re: South Carolina Divorce

The time necessary to get a hearing in a case like this varies from circuit to circuit, but typically 2-8 weeks is the "normal" range.

You will not need to be present, so long as you have signed (or been served with) the necessary paperwork.

Good luck,

Ben Stevens
