when speaking to a divorce attorney what other fees can you expect after you retain him or her?

It depends on the attorney, but the financial terms should be set out clearly and specifically in the retainer agreement. Some attorneys charge a retainer and bill by the hour for work done on your case. Others (like me) charge a fixed fee that is disclosed at the beginning of the case, so you know your best case and worst case scenario from a cost standpoint.
