Legal Question in Family Law in South Carolina

step-parent adoption

My son's birth father passed away about five years ago. I am know remarried and my husband wants to adopt my son. Do I have to go through an attorney or is there some other alternative since there is no one to contest the adoption?

Re: step-parent adoption

You will still need to go through an attorney, but the process should be fairly simple and straightforward under the facts you described.

It is important that all adoption cases be handled correctly, and you should therefore consult an experienced family law attorney to find out what options are available to you based on the facts of your particular case.

If you need more information, you can visit my family law blog (www.SCFamilyLaw.com) or our website (www.StevensFirm.com). I wish you the best of luck.
