Legal Question in Family Law in South Carolina

Sueing because of STD

If someone were to give you an STD is there legally anything that you can do about it. I have heard about a man infecting multiple people with HIV and being charged with it. I have also heard that if it is something incurable you may have a course of action. I assume that the person who would be seeking to sue would hold some fault if they did not protect themselves. But if the other person told them they were ''clean'' how would that effect things. Also would the length of the relationship be a factor as well. Like if you were dating the person for months or years or only went out with them one time?

Thank you for your time.

Re: Sueing because of STD

If you were able to prove that someone transmitted a STD knowingly or recklessly, then that person could bring a civil case and seek money damages.
