Legal Question in Family Law in South Carolina

taking child across state line

I read one of the other questions that asked if a mother could take her children across state line and the answer was yes. Does the father have the same rights?

Re: taking child across state line

Unless the Court has specifically ordered that a parent not remove the child from SC, then that parent can take the child out of SC. In most cases, there is not a restriction on removing the child from SC.

These are complex issues, and it is important that they be handled correctly. Therefore, it is important that you consult an experienced family law attorney to find out what options are available to you based on the facts of your particular case.
