Termination of child support

My son graduates on 05/24/07 and turns 18 on 06/01/07.. In the state of South Carolina does his child support end on his 18th birthday?? Also, Do you need to go through court to terminate??

Re: Termination of child support

Child support generally ends at the later of (a) reaching 18 years of age or (b) graduating from high school. If the support is only for one child, then there is no need to go through the Court to stop it.

That having been said, the paying parent may want to provide proof to the Clerk's office of the basis for stopping the payments to avoid any confusion and/or problems down the road.
