Legal Question in Family Law in South Carolina
My name is Thomas Boyd Akridge. I was married in 2000 in lexington S.C. I left the marriage after six months and i haven\'t seen her since. There are no kids involved and no property issues. How can I find out if we are still married or if she got a divorce. her name is Lisa Marie Jennings Akridge. I\'m not instersted in haveing any contact with her so how would I find out if I\'m still married?

You could call the Clerk of Court and ask if there are any cases with your names. Family court records are confidential but not the case names. You would have had to be served with any court action but if you were not able to be located they could have served by publication. There are also records of divorces kept by DHEC, but those also are confidential. You may be able to file a request to see if there are any records in your name.
