Legal Question in Family Law in South Carolina

TPR and Child Support

When does a TPR take effect. My ex lives in another state and signed papers that may or may not be legal in SC. We will not be in court until May. Is he required to pay child child support until the order is signed by the judge?

Re: TPR and Child Support

The TPR doesn't take effect until the Order is actually signed. Based on the limited information you provided, it sounds as though his child support obligation would continue until the Order is signed, but other facts (which were not included) could change that result.

These are complex issues, and it is important that they be handled correctly. Therefore, it is important that you consult an experienced family law attorney to find out what options are available to you based on the facts of your particular case.
