In an action for a divorce based on physical cruelty (domestic violence), there must be at least 90 days between the date of filing and the date the Divorce Decree is issued. However, most of the time these cases take more than 90 days -- sometimes much more -- depending on what other issues are involved.

These are complex issues, and it is important that they be handled correctly. Therefore, it is important that you consult an experienced family law attorney to find out what options are available to you based on the facts of your particular case.
