Legal Question in Medical Leave in South Carolina

On leave with husband and go to wedding

I am going on FML -husband very ill. During period of FML Grandson getting married in KS. Would be gone from husband 4 days for wedding with daughter caring for him. Will this cause problem because already scheduled time for wedding before husband illness?

You might have a problem, if you use FMLA time to attend a wedding for 4 days. That's possible grounds for termination, I would think, because the sole purpose is caring for your husband and if he doesn't require that care, then the employer has the right to expect you to be at work.

On the other hand, if they don't know, they can't make a fuss about it.

If you had planned the time off already that shouldn't have any effect on your leave under the FMLA. However, your employer is allowed to run your vacation time at the same time as your 12 weeks of leave under the FMLA
