automobile accident liabilty

a friend gave my son permission to drive his truck.the truck had been wrecked previously and the damages were not fixed.my son had an accident on the ice in the truck.the friend only had liability ins.are we responsible to pay the damages my son did to the truck?my son told the friends dad he would take care of it.

If your son was at fault, then he could be held liable for the damages he caused.
