Legal Question in Civil Litigation in South Carolina

No Insurance, If big medical bill, Can they take my home ?

Having lost my medical insurance, and being unable to afford the premiums to purchase any (as I am in the High Risk Group ) If I or my wife has a medical problem (lets say a stroke) that leads to a very large bill..(lets say over 100K) can the institution that we owe the money to make us sell our home or other property to pay the bill, or can we just try to make payments that we can afford (maybe paying the left over bill out of the estate when we do die)?

Most any institution will be happy with payments, even if they are small. These facilities have such a problem being paid from so many patients that they welcome anyone that will come to them and set up a payment program. You do not have to wait until something happens to find out. You can contact any of the possible institutions right now and ask them questions about payments and anything else pertaining to a possibility in the future and they will be happy to answer your questions. Good luck.
