Legal Question in Civil Litigation in South Carolina

Landscapers represented themselves as licensed caused damage, stole property

We signed a contract with Landscapers, who said they were licensed, and paid them $37,000. to do extensive landscaping , modification of our pool house. They did poor work, then stole $24,000. of our property and left town.We have had to pay for repairs, they are not licensed, and there does not seem to be anything we can do about it.The police won't issue a warrant because they were allowed on our property as landscapers, neighbors were witnesses to the theft. They also obtained expensive items from a local store as donations, ( the yard was to be featured on a garden show) and never used the items in our yard.We have spent $28,000. on repairs . Our attorney is starting a case but are they not criminals?

They become, "criminals," once they are convicted of a crime. If the police won't do anything you can try contacting your county's Solicitor's office as they can initiate the warrant process. You can also try contacting you local county Magistrate Judge about swearing out a warrant. I would suggest running this by your lawyer first. Good luck.
