Legal Question in Civil Litigation in South Carolina

One of the parents of my daughters class mate has started a rumor that I use crack (I dont) we live in a small town and this has now spread. It is effecting my daughter. Some of the kids are saying they cant come to her birthday party because of this. Is there anything that I can do.... I have a myspace message from the womans daughter stating that I shoot up and use crack all day... this was sent to my daughter.

You may want to try sending that individual a letter. A lot of people send letters of this nature certified, as that seems to get people's attention. What they are doing could possibly be Defamation. It might be in your best interest to have an attorney do it for a couple reasons. One, seeing it on a law firm's letterhead shows that you mean business. Secondly, an attorney would be able to property cite the law. I wish you well. Good luck.
