Legal Question in Civil Litigation in South Carolina

Pharmacy Mishap

I went to a a well-known pharmacy to have a prescription filled this past weekend. I took the medication as directed by my doctor. After the second dose, I started having a very rapid heartbeat. This lasted for 3 days. I have a heart condition and high blood pressure. I went back to the doctor, took the bottle of medication with me. The pharmacy had given me the wrong medicine. They did not have the medication ordered in stock so instead of the pharmacist calling the doctor's office, he/she changed the precription to read a different medication. My doctor, actually a CPN, had kept a carbon copy of the prescription. She had the pharmacy fax their copy to her. Once she received it, she knew it had been altered. She has both copies of the prescription.Do I have a suit against this pharmacy? I could have had a heart attack and maybe died. As far as I know, this pharmacist or assistant, I am not sure which is still employed there.

Re: Pharmacy Mishap

Based on what you have said, you appear to have a potential suit. You also have grounds to file a complaint with the medical board.
