renters liability

I rent a townhouse and my air conditioner leaked into the next unit. My neighbor is claiming that I have to replace her damaged carpet but I do not think it is my responsibility since I do not own the property. Do I have to pay for her damaged carpet?

It really depends on a number of things, such as whether there is a written lease, if so, what it says about repairs, whether you knew about the A/C and reported it or didn't report it, whether there is insurance, etc. You really need to meet or call an attorney who can ask you all the necessary questions to give you complete advise.
