Legal Question in Civil Litigation in South Carolina

Wedding Cost Recovery

Our daughter recently married after dating for over 5 years, one of which they lived together in her home. They were married for only 6 months and he has now filed for divorce. It has come to our attention he did not want to go through with it from the beginning but was too cowardly to say so. Can we, as parents of the bride, recover any wedding costs from him?

Re: Wedding Cost Recovery

I don't know all the details, but I am guessing that the costs you had for the wedding were a gift. If so, then no, you cannot recover any from him. However, if it was some sort of a loan or you have any type of agreement with him, then maybe you can. Good luck.
