Legal Question in Immigration Law in South Carolina

I am an international student. I had to go back to my country for a semester for personal reason. When i decided to come back I sent email to my counselor, international student office, admissions and financial aid office. They told me I was accepted and I could come back. They never called me to the office to fill any form. Now after a year, when the college tried to everify my status (to see my eligibility for work study), DHS told them that I was out of status. Now, I can't work, have to pay for my sevis fee a all over again and get a new financial aid letter that specifies my eligibility to pay for the tuition. However, my financial condition has changed over the year My college seems least supportive and is not willing to compensate me in any way. THey have been very laid back about this whole issue. Can I take a legal action or can I legally ask them to compensate me?

Hello:

Before thinking about going after the college, you should prepare and file a petition to reinstate your status.
