Legal Question in Insurance Law in South Carolina
I was in an accident on 11-30 and spent two days in the hospital. I have medicaid insurance in SC. Yesterday I received a letter from the state instructing me to fill out a form that would detail information as to the third party involved in my accident. In brief, I was at a local horse rehabilitation farm, riding a horse with my wife and daughter. My horse began galloping and I was either thrown or I fell from the horse. I suffered a small brain hemorrhage and a fractured sacrum.
As of this point, we have not sought any legal counsel. We had not intended to sue the people running the farm, but now I am a little concerned that perhaps I need to take steps to protect myself from legal action from either the state or the horse farm.
My question is, do you recommend that I seek legal counsel on this matter and what type of attorney should I deal with? Thank you very much.
1 Answer from Attorneys
I strongly believe that it is in your best interest to consult with an attorney. After you have all of the necessary information, you can then decide if you would like to be represented. Based on what you have explained, I think that retaining an attorney would be very beneficial, for a number of reasons. The type of attorney you need would be one that practices Negligence. This is a Personal Injury case, which is a form of Negligence.
This is exactly the type of work that I do. My office is in Myrtle Beach and I represent people all around the state. I am happy speaking with you if you would like to call.
