Legal Question in Insurance Law in South Carolina

Uninsured Motorist give verbal agreement to drive.

While driving from North Carolina to Florida in a friends car I was given premission to drive by my friend. In South Carolina the left passenger tire blew out. We spun across the road and proceeded to slide into the treeline. The car flipped and was totalled. No other cars were invoved. Several months later the drivers insurance called to try to recoup the amount that it cost to fix the car. They said that I was not covered by the insurance of the car owner. The car had a lein holder which meant it should have had full coverage. Can I be held accountable for the cost of the car if I was an uninsured driver? Does a verbal agreement from the driver of the car put me as the liable party?

It sounds like you should have been covered by the insurance. You need to have the insurance policy reviewed by an attorney. Good luck.

Wait a minute. Let me go back and answer your question again. Sorry, but I must have misread it the first time. From what you have said the repair bill was paid by the insurance company, so the accident was covered. It appears that the insurance company is trying to collect from you because they feel you were at fault. My suggestion is the same, but for a different reason, have the policy reviewed by an attorney.
