Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in South Carolina

Requiring renters to work without pay in establishment where they rent retail sp

I rent space in an ''emporium'' type store with 14 other renters. The owner of the store requested that each renter ''give'' one day per month of their time to work in the store...helping to wrap gifts, greet customers, etc. She has called everyone and scheduled them to work. I want to refuse, feeling this is unfair.

We pay her quite a bit of money each month to rent our space and she also takes 10% commission for all items sold.

Are we obligated to work without pay for her? Is it legal for her to ask this of us?

Anything in your contract with them?

Have you asked for compensation for your time? Discount in rent or other amenities?
