Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in South Carolina

Termination of a lease due to disablity

I've been disabled for over a year. Due to regression and extreme doctor restrictions, I'm now having to move in with my sister for care thus breaking my current apartment lease. Am I able to do this without penalty legally?

I would certainly go to the landlord with a letter from your doctor and an offer to help re-lease the premises as soon as possible. (YOu may want to even offer to pay for an ad in the paper.) That offer may get the landlord's cooperation to voluntarily release you.

Even if not, are you vulnerable to a judgment?
