Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in South Carolina

Femoral neuropathy due to negligent surgery

I have recently undergone cancer surgery and developed a femoral neuropathy afterwards due to, an admitted, error by the surgeon in as much as he did not take the proper precautions presurgically to prevent such a condition from occuring. He claims he did not think that the surgery would take more than 4 hours(It took 8 1/2).

The condition is improving and a neurologist claims it will hopefully disappear in 6 to 9 months. In the mean time I have suffered undo pain and paraysis and have no guarantee the condition will ever abate. It has absolutely affected my day to day living style and has caused me additional expenses for neurology studies and medication and is continuing to do so.

What is your recommendation?

Thank you.

Re: Femoral neuropathy due to negligent surgery

I assume that when you ask for my recommendation that your asking me if you should sue the doctor. I can't tell you to do that or not to do that. That is a personal question. However, I can tell you that if the doctor committed medical malpractice then you have a right to sue. You may want to contact a medical malpractice attorney in your area to discuss your options.
