Legal Question in Personal Injury in South Carolina
Accident in a hotel, not extremely hurt but should we get a lawyer or just accept paying for doctor bill?

I would suggest consulting with an attorney who handles premises liability cases in South Carolina about your situation. They can give you an informed opinion on whether the hotel is legally responsible for your injuries. If the hotel is at fault, don't accept them paying your medical bills. They have lawyers and adjusters working hard every day to avoid paying the true financial value of claims against them.Under SC law, the hotel may be legally responsible for your injuries if (1) the hotel property was not kept in a reasonably safe condition and (2) that unsafe condition caused your injuries. Your reason for being on the hotel's property is also important; by law, the hotel has a higher level of duty, for example, to a paying customer than to a trespasser. Moreover, the greater your injury, the higher the dollar value of your case. Finally, even if you had some degree of negligence in causing your injuries, SC allows for recovery unless you were more at fault than was the land owner. Best of luck.
The answer that I just read by the other attorney has left me scratching my head. Did he/she really say, "If the hotel is at fault, don't accept them paying your medical bills." ------ HUH?
As long as you do not sign anything with the hotel or their insurance company, or from their attorney, etc., then for goodness sakes let them pay whatever they will. Any such payments inn all likelyhood would not be admissible in court anyway.
Without more information, a lawyer really can't answer your question. The previous attorney only addressed either you or the hotel being negligent. Nothing was mentioned about a third party contributing. That is important.
Most importantly, is no one reading your question knows anything about the facts of the negligence, nor the potential damages, both of which could have potentially huge impacts on the answer(s) to your questions.
Your free to call if you want. There's no charge. Whether you call me or someone else, just be sure to call someone. That is what insurance is for and you very well may be entitled to your share.
I wish you well.
