Legal Question in Personal Injury in South Carolina

Fall at home

A contractor working on my house removed a wheelchair ramp two weeks before redoing my floor. I walked into the house, not knowing the ramp had been removed, fell and sprained my ankle. Shouldn't the contractor have put up a sign or barrier? His response was ''didn't you look?'' But, that ramp had been there for several years and I was accustomed to it being there.

Re: Fall at home

Yes, he should have put a barrier up or notified you in some way, but in South Carolina we have the doctrines of assumption of the risk and contributory negligence. You probably have some fault on your part also for not making sure the area was safe to walk on since you knew that work was being done.
