Legal Question in Personal Injury in South Carolina
responsibilities when releasing your attorney
I was involved in an automobile accident in April. I retained a lawyer and have not been satisfied with their services. How should I handle this? Can I release my lawyer and handle this myself or hire another attorney and if I did retain services with a new lawyer would it be like starting all over again? Thank you advance for your time and consideration.

Re: responsibilities when releasing your attorney
If you are not satisfied with your attorney and want to release him/her, you simply need to send him a letter stating you release them and requesting a copy of your file. The attorney should have the file ready within a day or so, and you can then take it to another attorney, who can pick up from there. Representing yourself is generally not a good option in personal injury cases.
