Legal Question in Real Estate Law in South Carolina

I own a house and land and a contractor brought the land beside mine. The lot in which he brought was full of trees and brush, nothing pretty but if he had paid attention to the survey he crossed over to my land and cut trees that were on my land. Like I said it was nothing pretty but I knew that when or whomever brought the land I would have a border between my lot and his. I have pictures of before and after. What if anything can I do?

It sounds like negligence. I'm not sure if it would be financially worth the time and costs of a law suit, but you could always take the pictures and the survey to an attorney and let them advise you. As far as what you personally could do, is you could contact the contractor and inform them of what they did and ask them to reimburse you for the trees that they had no right to cut down. My guess is that they probably would not cooperate. If so, you could always ask for the name of thier insurance company and them you could file a claim. One problem you may have is putting a value on it. Before you do anything, I strongly advise you to meet with an attorney first. I will you well
