marina property tax
If a boat slip has a pier length of 20 X
40 feet, but it is being advertised as a
55 foot slip (15 additional feet of water
space) can I be taxed on the 55 feet
since there is no physical property on
the additional 15 feet?

There might in fact be physical property under the water for that 15 feet. Boat slips usually work two different ways. One, the slip owner own the space and the marina has an easement into the water. The second, is the slip owner actually owns the land below the water. Either way, you should call your County Tax Office and ask them your question. Marina slips are a strange thing to calculate taxes on and I have heard the formula varies. The County Tax Office should be happy to answer your question. That is part of what they do.
