Legal Question in Real Estate Law in South Carolina

Mortgage

Our mortgage has been sold several times. The last time it was sold we were notified of who the company was but never received any other information. Now the company who sold the mortgage doesn't have a record of the mortgage and the company that it was sold to doesn't have any record of the mortgage. My credit report states paid closed. What do I need to do so that this will not come back on me. One money order has been cashed but the checks have not and they have not been returned.

Re: Mortgage

I hate to tell you this since I know what a pain it is to try and call those companies, but I would strongly recommend calling both mortgage companies again, talking with a supervisor if neccesary, until you get this straightened out. I would not count on this disappearing. It is extremely aggravating to try and call mortgage companies and get an intelligent and competent person on the phone that will help you. But under the circumstances I think that is the only way you are going to be able to resolve this. Someone at one or both of these companies should be able to help you. If that doesn't work, then maybe you should consider a certified letter to both companies explaining the problem. Good luck
