Legal Question in Traffic Law in South Carolina
My daughter just got a speeding in SC and is a resident of NC. She was cited at 14 mph over in a work zone. She had a ticket in NC about 2 years ago and paid a lawyer to handle it, but can't remember if he got it reduced or if she used a prayer for judgement. Does SC report speeding tickets to NC? How might a previous prayer for judgement come into play (and how can she find out if that is what was done in the previous case)? If she hires a lawyer, what is the likely outcome?

Yes, traffic convictions from SC get transferred to NC. A prayer for Judgement will not have any affect on a SC ticket. SC does not have them and does not recognize them. The typical outcome for a 14 point ticket is that it will be reduced. She got a 4 point violation and they will usually reduce it to a 2 point violation. With the point reduction would be a fine reduction. Its wise to have an attorney.
