my boyfriend was stopped for dus and went to court today and was sentenced to 30 days but the law if im not mistaken was not in affect at the time of the traffic stop

What law are you referring to? The 30 days? The penalty for DUS hasn't changed recently, so I'm not sure what your referring to.
