Legal Question in Traffic Law in South Carolina

Hit and Run/ NO damage

I was given a ticket for a hit and run. I parked behind a car, took keys from ignition took my foot off clutch and it rolled into car in front of me. It was about 12-18 inches. I backed up and saw no damage SO, when I was done shopping I left. Two days later an Hiway Patrol come to my house and give me a ticket. I went to see the car again, there was damage on the rear right bumper which I am sure ''broke'' off the bumbper. The long and short there was not a spot on my car, and futher more when given all the info the guy NEVER even filed a claim against my insurance, after repeated tries my myself AND my insuranae company. I went to pre trail and the solictor said ''to bad'' you still left the scene. My question is there a violation that actaually states ''failure to leave a note'' that would carry 2 point in stead of six. I have a jury trail in late August.

Thank You SO mcu

Re: Hit and Run/ NO damage

No there isn't. However, if you did leave a note then you have a defense to the charge. Also, you said you saw no damage. That too is a possible defense. Be careful going to trial, as this charge has potential jail time. Your welcome to call if you have any other questions. Robert Johnston (843) 828-1137
