Legal Question in Traffic Law in South Carolina

Left turn at a stop sign, who has right of way.

Two cars approach an intersection from opposite directions. They ar both at a stop sign facing each other. One is turning left and the other is going straight forward. Assuming the left turning car got to the intersection first AND both cars are waiting for a break in traffic to go, who has the right of way? The left turner who got there first or the one going straight forward who got there second. Again, both cars have been waiting for traffic to clear for some time. Based on SC law if possible...thanks

Re: Left turn at a stop sign, who has right of way.

If both cars are at a complete stop and both are waiting for the traffic to clear, then once it is safe to prceed through the intersection the person going straight has the right away. The general rule is that people turning left must wait till on-coming traffic clears.
