Legal Question in Traffic Law in South Carolina

Prayer for Judgement

Dear Guru,

I recently received a 40/25 speeding ticket in Clemson, SC (Pikens County). Upon going to court I pled not guilty as I thought a trial at a later date would give me the chance to drop the ticket and 4pts off my license.

I've never had a speeding ticket in my 4 years of driving and I am wondering exactly what ''Prayer for Judgement Continued'' is and if I can use it to my advantage. Does it apply to this city/county?

Also know that I am only attending school in SC and that I hold a CT liscense

Thank you

Re: Prayer for Judgement

South Carolina does not have Prayer for Judgement. When you get your court date you can show up and one, have a trial or two, ask for a point and fine reductions. Since you got a ticket for 40/25, you have a 4 point ticket. If they agree to a reduction in points they will reduce it to 2 points. They cannot reduce it to 0 points since SC does not have a 0 point speeding ticket. On rare occasions they will re-write the ticket for a none-point violation, but they seldom do that. If they do the fine is usually much higher. Good luck.
