Legal Question in Traffic Law in South Carolina
Reckless driving help needed
I'm normally a very safe driver. Havn't had a speeding ticket in years. But I had recently gotten a new little zippy car, and was presented with a round-a-bout. I looked and no one was around, and I couldn't help myself and took the loop a few times, and a little bit fast. An undercover pulled up to the loop, an I exited, but he got me and slapped me with a reckless driving ticket and a $525 fine.
I know what I did was foolish, but this seems a bit excessive. I couldn't have been going over 25mps, as I was in first gear the entire time, but the posted was 15mphs, and I had complete control the entire time, though the wheels did skid a bit. Iresearched it and I thought the limit was $250 for a reckless ticket?
This was in SC, but I have an out of state license, is there anyway I can fight this? I have a commercial license and this could seriously damage future employment....any suggestions would be helpful!

Re: Reckless driving help needed
You can fight it by going to trial and trying to convince a jury that it was an excessive ticket. Or, you or through an attorney try to negotiate it to a lessor charge such as Careless Operation, which has a smaller fine and no points. You can call or email if you have other questions.
