Legal Question in Traffic Law in South Carolina
My name is Tim Dilweg, I resently pled guilty to a DUS charge and the courts sentance is a fine of $672.08 plus a 3% Statutory collectin fee. they gave me 2 months to pay stating 9/2/09 and is due 11/2/09. I filled for disability a year and a half ago and is still on going. I can't work and I have noe money to pay this fine.
My question is is there some kind of community service or some kind of other way to pay off this fine asI don't want to go to jail for this if not paid on time.
case# E118292HP
Thank you,
Tim Dilweg

Please understand that when you are sentenced by the court, that is a Court Order. That means that you have been ORDERED by the court to pay that money. You didn't say what the court may have said about going to jail if the money is not paid, but that is usually how they do it. You cannot change that Court Order yourself. Only the judge can change that order.
I am not aware of any community service that is available. If you absolutely cannot pay the money in two months, then maybe you should go talk with the Clerk of Court and ask if they have the authority to give you more time.
I hope you had an attorney. If you did, then you need to call that attorney and ask them if they know of anything that might help you.
I'm sorry I wasn't able to give you more encouraging news.
