Re: Stroke

In S.C., a stroke may be compensable under workers' compensation in certain circumstances. It must be brought on by "extraordinary and unusual" conditions of employment or an "unexpected strain or overexertion" at work. These phrases have been interpreted by the S.C. courts in case law. A doctor will also need to provide an opinion relating the stroke to your employment.

The specific facts of your case would likely govern whether the stroke is compensable. Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

One caveat, if you were a federal employee at the Navy base, then you would need to pursue Federal, as opposed to S.C., workers' compensation benefits. Federal workers' compensation has its own rules which are not addressed here.

Re: Stroke

It needs to be work related. You may want to ask a doctor.
