I assume this is a Workers Compensation case?
Your question is a very intelligent and reasonable question. But there is no way that I can answer it. I would liteally have to write a book to give you all of the information that you would need. Your case is just way, way too important to take any chances on not explaining it correctly, or leaving anything out of the explanation.
Please understand that if you qualify for life-time benefits, the insurance company may bend over backwards to either see to it that you do not get life-time benefits, or that you get a very small amount. That means that you really should have an attorney. The insurance company will have an attorney and you will simply not be able to fight any legal issues. Workers Compensation can get very complicated. Especially when there is a lot of money involved.
There are other considerations that need to be done now, through any settlements and in the final paperwork to protect you. For example, I have had Workers Compensation cases where we were able to secure social security benefits. If your settlement with the Workers Compensation is not finalized properly, then you could future SS benefits.
You will also need to have just the right medical documentation to support life-time benefits, and any possible settlement. Whether that is just the medical reports, or if a physician/witness is necessary, or possibly doing depositions. Each case is different.
I have years of Workers Compensation expericence and am happy talking with you if you would like to call. My firm is in Myrtle Beach, but I represent people from across the state.
