Hospital Bill Collection

A subpoena was written on 12/16/06. My parents were just served on 01/20/07. The court date is 01/25/07 The first day in which they could contact anyone was 01/22/07. They are to list all their assets & debts. They are to bring finance statements of utility bills, bank loans & irs returns for 2004/2005/2006. IRS states that you have to fill out form & then info is sent to you in 20 business days. They won't have the right info for court in the 3 days they have before court. My parents don't own anything free and clear. They have a 1996 mobile home that they still owe $21000 on and they have a mini-van they have as collateral on their loan with the bank.They had a truck but that was reposessed a week before they got the subpoena for the hospital bill for $11000. What options do they have in this short time before court, and why is subpoena signed by court in Dec was it not given to them till few days before court so they would have time to prepare? I understand that they should file bankruptcy but that won't happen in couple days & have court date then. Also. they have tried contacting the lawyer for the hospital 3 times today & no returned phone calls. Mom is worried per don't or won't have all info requested by subpoena. HELP!!!

They need to grab all the records they can stuff in a briefcase or bag and meet with an attorney TODAY, preferably a Bankruptcy or collections attorney. GO to a directory for attys in YOUR ZIP COde and call for an APPT THIS MORNING.

A phone call or FAXED letter from an attorney could back burner this until they file Bky.THEY NEED TO MAKE THIS AN EMERGENCY PRIORITY TODAY. THEY HAVE 2 FULL BUSINESS DAYS TO DEAL WITH THIS.
