Legal Question in Criminal Law in South Dakota
forgery and financial theft
Hello.. My ex husband was ''helping'' me out and helped me sell a car. He forged my name on the papers I found and then forged the check that was $11,000. I had bought his old vehicle. He got the papers ready at the bank through his friend. He then took an additional line of credit out behind loan for 11,000. I was unable to pay for the loan due to him not paying child support since August of 08. He now has the vehicle as he co signed, but it is just registered to me. He said he is going to have my wages garnished to pay him back and even gave me a court date. What are my rights and what can I do do get back the 22,000 he stole.

Re: forgery and financial theft
It is unclear if he signed the papers with or without your authority. It sounds like it was then ok with you. If I am wrong, you need to clarify your question.
