Legal Question in Criminal Law in South Dakota
warrants
I have a friend who went to court for DUI 2 years ago. She was given a sentence of 45 days in jail and a fine. She was suppose to turn herself in on a certain date but did not due to her having five children to take care and a single parent. How long does a state warrant stay in effect for because she is worried to even go anywhere because she does not have a job or noone to help her with her children.

Re: warrants
Warrants are forever. Your friend's warrant will remain in effect until she takes care of it, is arrested or dies.
