Most of the judicial districts in Minnesota require that the offender, no matter what number the offense is, undergo an alcohol use assessment by either a probation officer or a qualified counselor. After the evaluation, the offender is then ordered to follow the recommendation. That can be anything from nothing at all to in-patient treatment.
What I expect in Hennepin County is that the evaluation will say that a first time offender does a one day class (Level I) and a second time offender will at least do a two day class (Level II). It really depends, however, on what the ev
However, Anoka County has it's own program - which involves an overnight at Lino Lakes even for a first offense. And Ramsey County has a relatively new program which I have not figured out yet which also requires a lot more than what they are doing in Hennepin County.
So it depends on a lot of things, including what county this happened in. The short answer is: do what you have been ordered to do.
Meanwhile, please know that the next offense you have they will seize the car you are driving, even if it belongs to someone else. If you think it's nasty this time, don't ever ever ever have another offense. You ain't seen nothin yet.
