Legal Question in Family Law in South Dakota
bank account
my ex-wife put a levy on a joint bank account that I have with my new wife. I was brought into a hearing and asked about my finances, and I presume that is how she found out what bank I was using. I have now taken my name off the account. My question is, If I would open an account with another bank, what are the cances of her finding this account without my knowledge, or would it take another hearing to discover it.

Re: bank account
You can avoid levy on your bank account/s by regularly paying on account, whatever a Court judgement or order would indicate that your owe or should pay. If you are unable to pay, through not fault of your own, then you must ask for a reduction of your payments, provide proof that your request for same, is for good cause and is in good faith.

People tend to be predicable, in that they usually opt for convenience re where they shop, bank and etc.. Thus, interest bearing and other regular bank accounts are fairly easily discoverable by "letter blanketing " banks in the general location of a person's home or job.
Good luck,
