Legal Question in Family Law in South Dakota

Child support through a court referee

I will be retiring soon and my income will be drastically reduced due to that. I understand that I can have my child support obligations reviewed by a court referee. However, when I looked at the application for this route it asks about all my assets and their values (bank accounts, property, insurance, jewelry, etc). It also tells me to leave out all information on subsequent children (daycare, insurance). When I went through a lawyer the last time for this all, I needed to provide was my income information, why is this so different with a referee? It seems like using my lawyer is a much better safer and accurate route. Can any of you explain a referee a little better?

Re: Child support through a court referee

Referee can ask for anything. He or she is just trying to cut to the chase.
