Legal Question in Family Law in South Dakota

Terminating parental rights

My boyfriend lives in North Dakota, he got a girl pregnant in South Dakota and does not want any parental rights. How would he go about terminating all right? and if he does is he still obligated to pay child support? We would like to do this as soon as possible. Thank you

Re: Terminating parental rights

In general the law wants to see each child have two parents. The most common reason to terminate parental rights is that some other guy wants to adopt the child. Outside of that, there would have to be some really good reason (such as your bf is a dangerous ax murderer) to want to keep the father away from the child permanently.

If parental rights could be terminated, yes then there would be no child support - but this is a wild dream.

So the short answer is that if he's not mentally ill or in prison he can't terminate and he is stuck with child support, probably until he is 40 or older.

I ask you: what attracts you to this guy? Sounds like a loser to me. Either get some counseling or find the nearest meeting of Codependant's Anonymous.
