Legal Question in Civil Litigation in South Dakota

civil procedure
I am a resident of MN and received a subpoena from sd. From my uderstanding of the civil procedure laws I am not required to appear in court in a different state than where I reside. Is this correct? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
